Wear your story, Longer.

6th March 2025

Wear your story, Longer.

Every piece of clothing holds a story—of where we’ve been, how we’ve felt, and the memories we’ve made. But too often, when our clothes tear or no longer fit quite right, they end up forgotten or discarded.

To celebrate London Repair Week, we’re spotlighting our repairs and tailoring service with SOJO. Because we believe it is our responsibility to provide the option for you to refresh and repair your most treasured garments, so that you can wear your story, longer.

The financial benefit of repairs

An AYM piece is an investment—something you’ve carefully chosen, saved up for, and fallen in love with. We understand that buying one of our pieces is a decision made with intention, which is why we’re committed to helping you wear and love your pieces for as long as possible.

Years down the line, when your favourite dress starts showing signs of being well-loved, a little extra attention can keep it feeling just as special as the first time you wore it. Re-investing in the pieces you already love makes financial sense because the cost-per-wear of that item decreases each time you put it on, saving you money in the long run.

We've all felt the pressure to buy something new for an upcoming special occasion—but what if your perfect outfit is already in your wardrobe?

The Environmental Impact

Repairing and altering your clothes isn’t just  financially beneficial, it’s a conscious step - in a world where 13 million pieces of clothing are sent to landfill every week in the UK alone (Oxfam).

By taking the time to invest in the clothes we already own, we reduce our fabric footprint. Alterations extend the lifespan of garments, keeping them in circulation for longer and reducing the demand for new production. SOJO champions this mindset, encouraging thoughtful consumption over constant replacement

The Sentimental Value - Your Story

Our wardrobes contain more than just clothes—they’re made up of memories stitched into fabric. Whether it’s a dress worn to a milestone event or a well-loved staple that has accompanied you through different seasons of life, repairing these garments allows you to keep those connections alive. This way, your most treasured pieces can evolve with you, rather than being stored away never to be reached for again.

We spoke to Annabelle, who shared how her AYM Venus dress has been a constant in her journey as a host of leadership and performing team workshops: “The right outfit changes everything. When I feel strong, I speak with conviction. My Venus dress is my go-to for important moments—it makes me feel confident, capable, and ready to take on anything.”

Our clothes are more than just fabric; they are part of our personal journey. A wedding dress tucked away in storage, a top/skirt that saw you through your first big promotion, a dress that made you feel your most confident on stage—each item carries a story. With alterations and repairs, we can pour love back into these garments, ensuring they remain an active part of our lives rather than relics of the past

Confidence in the Perfect Fit

There’s nothing quite like the feeling of wearing something that fits perfectly. Clothes tailored to your shape have the power to make you feel more confident than ever. Whether it’s shortening the length of a hem, refining the waist, or reshaping a neckline, small changes can have a big impact on how an outfit makes you feel, and how often you reach for it in your wardrobe.

46% of clothing returns are due to poor fit -(Haris Poll), highlighting the importance of tailoring our wardrobes to our unique shapes. A perfect fit not only enhances comfort but also ensures that our purchases don’t go to waste.

This Repair Week, we invite you to rethink the way you engage with your wardrobe. Instead of discarding, consider restoring. Instead of replacing, consider refining. Your clothes deserve another chapter… and so do the stories they carry.
